The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination in multiple phases, and below is a detailed breakdown of the syllabus for Tier I and Tier II:

Syllabus for Combined Graduate Level Tier-I Examination:

A. General Intelligence & Reasoning:

  • Verbal and non-verbal questions
  • Analogies, similarities, and differences
  • Space visualization, spatial orientation
  • Problem-solving, analysis, judgment
  • Arithmetical reasoning, figural classification
  • Coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning, and more.

B. General Awareness:

  • Environment and its application to society
  • Current events, everyday observations, and experiences
  • History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy, and Scientific Research

C. Quantitative Aptitude:

  • Computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions
  • Percentage, ratio & proportion, square roots
  • Time and distance, time & work
  • Algebraic identities, geometry, trigonometry
  • Statistical measures, probability, and more.

D. English Comprehension:

  • Reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary
  • Sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms
  • Spot the error, fill in the blanks, idioms & phrases

Note: Questions in Parts A, B, & D are at a graduation level, while questions in Part C are at a 10th standard level.

Module-II of Section-I of Paper-I (Reasoning and General Intelligence):

  • Series, critical thinking, problem-solving, emotional intelligence

Module-I of Section-II of Paper-I (English Language and Comprehension):

  • Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure
  • Synonyms, antonyms, idioms & phrases
  • Comprehension passages, active/passive voice, sentence improvement

Module-II of Section-II of Paper-I (General Awareness):

  • Current events, everyday observations
  • History, Culture, Geography, Economics
  • General policy, scientific research

Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I (Computer Proficiency):

  • Computer basics, software, working with the internet and e-mails
  • Basics of networking and cybersecurity

Paper-II (Statistics):

  • Collection, presentation, and analysis of statistical data
  • Measures of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, and kurtosis
  • Probability theory, random variables, probability distributions

Paper-III (General Studies-Finance and Economics):
